All about us and what this site's all about ?
Hello, my name is Eddie. I am a Canadian born Slovenian who grew up in Montreal. I've had a long and successful career in management, working in the Airline and Airport IT Industry. I am also the proud dad of 2 young men, aged 23 and 16. My passions are hockey, soccer, Ballroom dancing and last, but definitely not least.... SCUBA DIVING ! For several years now, I've been thinking about running my own business. Due to a busy career and hectic work schedules, I just couldn't find the time to even think about it. Until now... I've decided to re-invent myself, add a little spice to life while I balance career. Hmmmmmmm... “what do I want to be when I grow up, what are my passions, what can I do that's fun..., always fun and a pleasure ” ?
Hi, my name is Monelle and I am an Egyptian born Canadian who grew up in Ville St-Laurent (Suburb of Montreal). I am also the proud mom of a 18 year old boy.I have worked in the travel industry for close to 21 years, and you guessed it, I love to travel! The only reason I left the business was to try and earn a better living (as anyone who works in the industry can attest, no $$$$ in it). At the ripe age of 39, I became a call center agent and am now also in the IT industry as an application systems and tools manager. I too have been looking for that elusive, "what is the one thing I really would like to do", and go after it.
All about us.
Together we are "MODIE" and we met about 11 years ago. Well, a few years back, we both found ourselves single, became great friends and what can we say, 1 day cupid just took over and put us together.
We have found that we have many common interests and passions. Diving being one of them!
After beating around the bush and trying to find something we could do together that would be new, be a great learning experience, exciting and definitely be a WOW subject by the office coffee machine, a good friend of ours (actually a Dive master, also known as Dan the scuba man) finally convinced us to put on a wet suit, gear up and try scuba diving.
Then we enrolled and completed the proper diving course (Very Important!), which included a lot of interesting and important class sessions. We finally took our first breaths underwater in our instructors’ pool.
What a feeling! But wait, the hook was just being set!
During our certification dives, the hook was set forever!
At 60 feet, in the Saint Lawrence Seaway in Canada, we came upon.....a sunken shipwreck... There it stood in all its glory, The Robert Gaskin, a wooden barge that met it's fate in 1889, still reasonably intact!
That's it, we swallowed the line, sinker and hook.... a fish couldn't be more in more trouble !
Over the years, since that certification dive, we've been diving the Carribean, Mexico and other tropical areas of the world and at the same time, getting there in style, while absorbing the local cultures.
We have a long term goal of owning and operating a dive shop somewhere in the Caribbean, where we hope to have a chance to meet you there someday.
Until such time, we just had to share our Scuba diving and travel adventures with you, so we put together this web site for you. We also hope our experiences in diving and travel will be informative and of value to you in your own diving adventures and travels.
Please enjoy !
Eddie Tkalec and Monelle Carama.
